FAQ

Q: What is the best way to keep my flowers until I am able to get them to Lasting Memories Floral Preservation?

DO NOT mist flower or put water on the petals for any reason. Flowers feed through the stems only. You will need to place flowers on top of a paper or plastic bag in the refrigerator that are in a nosegay or oasis. BUT DO NOT put flowers inside and DO NOT SEAL the bag. DO NOT put flowers in the freezer, this will ruin the flowers for processing. When transporting flowers that have exposed stems or are not in a vase, dampen a few paper towels and wrap around the bottom of the stems leaving the flower petals exposed not wrapped. Try to avoid any water at anytime near the flower petals.

Q: How many days do I have before I need to get the flowers to Lasting Memories Floral Preservation?

A: Bridal Bouquets should be processed within 3-4 days after the event.  Funeral flower arrangements can last up to 2 weeks depending if water has been kept in the oasis and flowers have not been exposed to extreme heat. (Some flowers do last longer & most flowers can be saved through my expertise, experience & process, unlike other floral processing.

Q: Do all flowers preserve?

Most flowers can be preserved using Lasting Memories Floral Preservations Process.  Some flowers are weaker at the base and do not process well and will fall apart not leaving a strong and sturdy flower to work with, such as Mums, Peonies and other same type flowers.

Q: Will my flowers look like they do now?

A: Most of your flowers will look just like the shape and form of the flowers you bring to Lasting Memories although the colors may darken or lighten according to flowers moisture and density. Any flower not making it through the process in your floral arrangement can be replaced with an exact replica in silk.

Q: Can I put other items in my dome other than flowers?

A: Yes. A variety of items can be displayed inside the frames and shadow boxes. Examples such as invitations, photos, cards, religious icons, or most other meaningful items all give a special and personal touch to your display. We recommend against food products and beverage containers, however. If you happen to forget to bring any of these items, don't worry, you can mail them or we can arrange to have them picked up.

Don’t worry about deciding everything right away. Initially, right after the event, it best to get the flowers processed and preserved as you only have one opportunity before they degrade completely. We will contact you in about 3 weeks after the flowers are done preserving. At that time we will consult with you about what you would like to have done for design and display.

Q: What if I don't have time to come back for another appointment for the layout design.

A: With so many customers now living out of state, we have found that email and/or phone consultations can be a very timely and effective way of communication. Examples and samples of your potential choices or layout can be sent ahead of time by email and decided on by you, first. Pictures, invitations, and other items that you may desire to be added in the frame or shadowbox can be mailed in a padded package with great results also.

Q: What if my flowers for some reason don't make it through the process?

A: This would be a rare occurance but may happen due to improper storage before delivery. Lasting Memories Floral Preservation can save most flowers.  The ones that may not make it through the process can always be replaced by your original florist or a nearby florist and easily added to your arrangement.

Q: What do I do with my flowers from my Wedding if they are already dried out and I have hung them upside down and they are just sitting in my cabinet or a box being stored?

A: We would need to see the flowers to determine how brittle they are and if the mold inside from the moisture that was not removed properly can be removed and if the flowers can be worked with. Most likely Lasting Memories can transfer flowers into a protective dome. (See photo gallery for example.)

Q: What if my Wedding Bouquet is Silk what are my options?

A: Silk flowers still need to be protected from the elements.  They can be encased in a dome with engraving noting the event date or with photos, invitations and etc. for display verus being put away in a box for years. (See Photo Gallery for example)

Q: How long before my floral preservation will be completed for pick up?

A: 6-10 weeks depending on the time of the year.  Bridal season, June through October are busiest.
